Laser Vision Correction
When it comes to laser vision correction (LVC) surgery, it’s important to know what your options are.
An LVC procedure is usually performed to correct one of three vision problems: myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. In nearsightedness, laser surgery is used to flatten the cornea. In farsightedness, laser surgery is used to steepen the cornea. If you have astigmatism, then your cornea has both areas that need to be steepened & flattened. LVC surgeries include PRK, LASIK.
EVO ICL Placement
In Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) surgery, a biocompatible lens is placed inside the eye behind the colored iris to correct vision. The contact lens is made of a material naturally found in the body that does not elicit inflammation or rejection. Corneal procedures, such as LASIK and SMILE, correct vision through corneal tissue removal. In contrast, ICL placement occurs inside of the eye (rather than the exterior cornea) & does not alter the eye’s natural shape.
Keratoconus Treatment
Keratoconus (also known as corneal ectasia) is a disease of the cornea, the clear front outer surface of the eye. Keratoconus affects 1 in 500 to 1 in 2,000 people in the general population. Its cause is unknown.
Premium Cataract Surgery & Lens Exchange
Cataract surgery is a common procedure for those over the age of 60. The term “cataract” simply refers to a human lens that is partly or completely cloudy. It is such a common problem that there are more than three million operations for cataract removal in the United States each year. Dr. Pennington specializes in lens removal before cataracts formation. This both allows for vision without glasses & prevents future cataract formation.
Chalazion Treatment
A chalazion is a cyst in the eyelid that is caused by inflammation of a blocked oil gland. They are usually painless, but tend to demonstrate redness, swelling and mild discomfort. They usually disappear on their own after several days or weeks, but sometimes, treatment is necessary.
Ocular Disease
